There’s something I like about trains. Maybe the folklore around them, maybe some type of romantic idea of travel and adventure, maybe the graffitis that adorns them. Most often, I’m rather happy when I can be the first one at a crossing like this afternoon when I took this photo. Doing a quick search online will reveal the same train in Illinois, or in Wisconsin. Strangely enough, as I type this, I can hear one passing along Humphrey Brook valley just behind our house in Moncton. We’ve been in this house for over a month now, and I haven’t grown tired of them yet.

Les trains m’attirent. C’est peut-être le folklore qui les entoure, peut-être une idée romantique de voyage et d'aventure, peut-être les graffitis qui les ornent. La plupart du temps, je me considère chanceux d’être le premier en ligne à un chemin de fer comme cet après-midi lors de cette photo. Une recherche rapide sue le web montre le même train dans l'Illinois, dans le Wisconsin, etc. Curieusement, au même moment où j’écris ces mots, je peux entendre un de ces monstres de fer et d’acier longer le ruisseau Humphrey, dans la vallée juste derrière notre maison, à Moncton. Nous sommes dans cette maison depuis plus d’un mois maintenant, et je ne me suis pas encore lassé des entendre.

First of all, (in this 1890th blog post!) I want to wish all and everyone of you a very happy new year.
May 2012 bring you much health & happiness and all what you may wish. Keep looking for the small things in life that gives it its richness, they can quickly disappear. I’ll try to continue this in my own way with this ongoing daily photo blog project, now in its 7th year. Thank you for being there.

En tout premier lieu (avec le 1890e billet de ce blogue!), je désire vous souhaiter une très bonne nouvelle année. Puisse 2012 vous apporter santé et bonheur et tout ce que vous souhaitez. Continuons à apprécier les petites choses de la vie, les choses que trop souvent, on ne prends pas le temps de remarquer durant leur courte présence. Development / Développement

Among the oldest residents of Moncton, one of the many trees that were cut this weekend on the land of Castle Manor, a Heritage property. Apparently for a private parking.

Parmi les plus anciens habitants de Moncton, un des nombreux arbres abattus au Manoir Bel-Âge, un Lieu Patrimonial du Canada. Pour un stationement privé, semble-t-il.

With this view, I was able to explain to the kids that the Sun is always shining above the clouds, even when it’s raining.

Avec cette vue sur Moncton, j’ai pu expliquer aux enfants que le Soleil brille toujours au dessus des nuages et de la pluie.

Christmas Concert / Concert de Noël

Hier soir, au concert de Noël de l’école primaire. Alors que toutes les caméras étaient pratiquement sur l’estrade, je me suis aventuré à l’arrière de la salle. Leçon de photo #321 : le sujet n’est souvent pas là ou on le pense.

Solidarité Acadie-Haiti

Deux photos prises du même siège (dernière rangée du balcon du Théâtre Capitol de Moncton) lors du magnifique spectacle Solidarité Acadie-Haïti. La qualité de l’image n’est pas excellente mais ce qui pour moi est le plus imporant à propos d’une caméra, c’est de ne pas avoir a changer de lentille et de pouvoir la transporter dans ma poche de manteau. Le pianiste dans la photo du bas est nul autre que Roger Lord. Autres images disponibles sur cet album public Facebook. Encore une fois, félicitation et merci aux organisateurs et aux artistes.

The image quality is not perfect but for me, the most important factor in a camera is not having to change the lens and to be able to carry it in my coat’s pocket.
