Essex Street Barking Cat / Le chat qui aboie

There seems to be a lot of cats in Salem, MA. One could wonder why.
Les chats semblent être partout à Salem, MA. Celui-ci posait fièrement devant cet boîte aux lettres.

C’est bel et bien une photo authentique. Cette boutique semble être un "Pet shop" bien connu à Salem.

That Barking Cat looks like it's ready to go for the throat.

The cat's name is Lucy. He is pretty famous around here. Here is a story about him from the Salem News:

Thanks David, this is great! I didn’t know the cat was such a celebrity. We’ll try to meet him next time we’re in Salem!

Lucy is the sweetest cat (for anyone who may have thought otherwise) and he's always welcome in MY shop, The Barking Cat. He's inclined occasionally to show up before or after open hours... though I DO think he can read them on the door!

Lucy sleeps in our back yard all the time. The owner's house is right behind ours. HE "talks" to us all the time. He loves a good scratching. The picture makes him look unapproachable. The cat is anything but... It would be a dream cat to own. He eats right out of your hand and rubs right up against you. Salem and his owner are lucky to have him.
